September 5, 2026 · Charted, the baseline
We sell local ranking. We measured our own and came up empty on five of six searches.
We ran the six searches our own business should show up for. Web design in Gig Harbor, web design in Tacoma, and four more. In the map results we appear for none of them: 118 businesses are listed across those searches and we are not one of them. In the ordinary blue links we appear once, at position six.
The two businesses above us have been on Google for ten years and twenty five years. Ours has been there two months. They carry twenty seven and thirteen reviews against our four. Google prints the years right on the listing.
That is the real answer to why a business with a ten year old website keeps beating a newer, better one. It has ten years of being a known business, and the website is a smaller part of it than people assume.
Reviews are the one thing on that list we can move this year, so that is where the effort goes. We will run these same six searches every month and publish what they say, up or down.
